An international leader in nuclear energy wants to add a Reactor Engineer to their growing team in Lynchburg, VA. This is a temp to hire opportunity.
Responsibilities of the Reactor Engineer:
- Being a customer interface for reactor core operational issues
- Provide on-site reactor engineering support during reactor unit startup.
- Perform core follow analyses.
- Providing consultation and direction for startup and operational physics testing
- Specify and develop core monitoring system product functional and performance requirements.
- Participate in product design and improvements.
- Prepare and install core monitoring system updates.
- Participate in core methods validation and verification activities.
- Involved in the preparation of engineering documents (calculations, reports, functional requirements, etc.) in support of commercial reactor reload licensing activities as well as interfacing with counterparts for reactor core monitoring product designs.
Requirements of the Reactor Engineer:
- BS in Nuclear Eng'g/Eng'g Tech. or related degree plus a minimum of 3 years of engineering experience. An advanced degree may be substituted for related exp. (MS 1-2 yrs. or PhD 1-3 yrs.). In applicable states a PE license will be accepted in lieu of a 4 yr. engineering degree.
- Experience with PWR core monitoring methods, core performance analysis, and on site reactor support.
- Demonstrated PWR or BWR core design and/or nuclear analysis experience.
- Demonstrated mastery of computer model development and application (e.g. MCNP, SCALE, CASMO, SIMULATE or other nuclear industry analysis code).
- Experience working with engineering workstation computers and LINUX operating environments.
- Computer programming/software capabilities and experience in FORTRAN, C/C++, or PYTHON.
