Project Manager - Direct Hire 

A capital equipment manufacturer in the Charlotte, NC area is actively looking to hire a Project Manager to manage the front-end execution of an industrial equipment system design / build projects. This is a direct hire opportunity. 
 
Project Manager Overview
The Project Manager is accountable for the delivery of all assigned projects on time, within budgeted, and to ensure scope is managed & controlled effectively. The PM will serve as the primary customer contact for all project activities once the PO approval & order confirmation is validated through project close out.
 

Responsibilities of the Project Manager:
Project Initiation Phase:
  • Start with the overall planning of the entire project life cycle including the direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of project.
  • Includes the project handoff from Sales, identifying the project team, completing the proposal Review Checklist, coordinating the initial client kick off etc...
  • As well as validating the sales proposal assumptions, highlighting potential risks, issues, and discrepancies, establishing an open items action list, and creating a preliminary milestone project schedule.
  • Ensure project acceptance invoice billing is completed as per the execution schedule.
 
Execution, Monitoring, and Control Phase: 
  • Includes coordination of client site visits, tracking customer drawing approvals, coordinating equipment specs and material purchases, confirming install vendors, leading the transportation shipment planning, validating the installation, and confirming the start-up and commission
  • Monitor fabrication build plan and report any delays or changes that could impact the schedule.
  • Manage project modification requests from the customer and re-estimate project timelines and budgets accordingly.

  • Monitor material supply schedule and ensure timely delivery of project material as per the project plan.


Close Out and Customer Acceptance Phase:
  • Ensuring all project open items have been closed out, customer confirmation of project acceptance, and formal notification of project closure.


Other Key Duties / Accountabilities of the Project Manager:
  • Communication of all issues in a timely manner.
  • Ownership of the project change management process.
  • Responsible for the project financials and variances.
  • Pre-start up Installation notification completion coordination.
  • Timely updates to the project forecasts and POC throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements of the Project Manager:
  • BS in Engineering strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years' experience in Project Management or Project Engineering.
  • Understanding of CAPEX projects or industrial equipment design / build. 
  • Able to manage up to 20 projects at a time - Ranging from 50k-1.5M in size and 6-month durations. 
  • Ability to travel - 10-20%.
