Job Description
A fast-growing medical device company in Pittsfield, MA has an immediate opening on their team for a Manufacturing Engineer. This is a direct hire opportunity that offers growth and great benefits.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Manufacturing Engineer:
- Perform Manufacturing Engineering projects as assigned
- Execute Lean/6-Sigma disciplines focusing on Continuous Improvement
- Implementing creative ideas in the process of manufacturing and understanding the technicalities related with the products
- Hands-on approach on improving the manufacturing process by implementing engineering concepts and optimizing the production of the products
- Support Validation Team in transitioning new programs to production including manufacturing line, secondary operations and production planning
- Configuring the products and providing manufacturing specifications to the teams involved in documentation to help prepare guides and instructions
- Reviewing the cost of the products by analyzing the cost of raw material and overall production cost
- Working with the manufacturing department and help them understand the technical concepts that should be looked after during the manufacturing process of the products
- Working closely with the quality assurance team to make sure that the product is meeting the quality constraints as well
- Identify and/or Lead Continuous Improvement/Lean Projects either individually or with team
- Gather information for capital equipment needs, create and budget for Return on Investment and/or positive efficiency return
- Participate in NCR/Continuous Improvement meetings as required
- Visit Customers to support manufacturing engineering efforts as required
- Support sales initiatives and programs as required
Skills and Qualifications of the Manufacturing Engineer:
- Bachelor’ s Degree or equivalent, or 5-7 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Prior experience in Injection Mold Processing and Lean Manufacturing Disciplines
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret Technical Drawings and technical information documents
- Create technical documents for use in the Injection Molding, other departments, and APEX Customers
- Ability to write and professionally and present technical information to small groups
