Leading company in Dayton, MN dedicated to provide professional services is looking to hire an Engineering Mechanical Designer. This is a direct hire position.
Responsibilities of the Engineering Mechanical Designer:
- CAD design & documentation
- Receive, review, edit and circulate ECP’s to assure accuracy, consistency and completeness. Complete ECOs, by utilizing PDM and other tools.
- Revise and redraw, as required, production drawings of existing standard products.
- Produce concept design layouts, CAD models and detail drawings.
- Use and apply design and drafting standards, including geometric tolerancing, and provide guidance to other designers.
- Perform engineering calculations as required to provide sound designs.
- Perform engineering calculations as required to provide sound designs.
- Coordinate manual revisions with Technical Publications.
- Identify design activities and solve problems.
- Communicate with manufacturing and suppliers to develop cost effective parts designs.
- Project management & leadership
- Coordinate activities with approval agencies such as FM and CSA.
- Effective training of originators and affected parties in the ECO process.
Requirements of the Engineering Mechanical Designer:
- Two year technical degree, or equivalent
- Capable of using and applying design and drafting standards
- Minimum 3 years experience in drafting including two years at design level
- Thorough knowledge of mechanical design drafting practices
- Knowledge and capability to design for multiple tooling methods
- Thorough knowledge of relevant manufacturing processes
- Thorough knowledge of use and application of geometric tolerancing and tolerance analysis
- Demonstrated ability to perform basic design calculations (example thread strength, press fits, cylinder stress, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to independently generate major, complex designs
