Automation Engineer - Temp to Hire

Full-service engineering and design firm based in Alpharetta, GA is looking to hire an Automation Engineer. This is a temp to hire opportunity in a growing industry!

Responsibilities of the Automation Engineer:
  • Perform automation & controls design evaluations and work to complete projects within budget and scheduling restraints.
  • Review policies and procedures to ensure data accuracy, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide technical design and troubleshooting support.
  • Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of each job. Use computer assisted design/drafting software to develop control enclosure designs. Prepare preliminary design proposal(s), engineering design, and supporting documentation.  Perform PLC, HMI, and simulator programming that will meet all project acceptance criteria.
  • Refine and complete designs after design review meetings.
  • Interact and coordinate with designers to develop and complete designs.
  • Interact with clients and vendors.
  • Take initiative to identify and correct potential design flaws and identify potential risks or engineering design impacts for the project.
  • Participate in and lead bid walk-down meetings.
  • Interact with vendors to specify and/or troubleshoot equipment.
  Requirements of the Automation Engineer:
  • BS in Electrical, Mechanical or Computer Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • 3+ years of experience in automation & controls design
  • Able to utilize AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical (preferred), MS Office, & MS Project
  • Proficient in various PLC and HMI software packages; experience with Rockwell and GE PLC and HMI programming software packages
