Applications Engineer - Direct Hire - Charlotte, NC area

Are you looking for an opportunity to be part of a truly innovative and fast-growing international company while working on in a team-focused work environment where your efforts won’t go unnoticed or unappreciated? We are looking for a 4+ year Engineer with an understanding of process controls systems / data acquisition in Charlotte, NC to join a growing team as a direct hire position.

Job Summary:
This person will be involved in commissioning, implementation, and on-going customer support of monitoring controls solutions for industrial machinery and industrial process systems. You will work closely with product development teams, solution system design engineers, customers, commercial leaders and local sales and service teams to design, localize, commercialize and commission measuring, monitoring and system automation controls solutions.  These monitoring systems uses various sensors for data acquisition and then compile the data into a "dashboard" for the client to monitor and optimize the performance of the systems. 

Responsibilities of the Applications Engineer:
  • Applies knowledge of automation and controls systems to define the product application capabilities. (sensors, configuration, dashboard, application, preventative maintence etc...)
  • Commission, test and debug turn-key electrical measurement, monitoring and control solutions to eliminate defects, errors and problems with product or software development. Analyze problematic situations and occurrences providing creative solutions to ensure program needs are achieved.
  • Electrical and software troubleshooting of customized solutions including manufacturing automation and safety systems. Understand controls / electrical problems and effectively correct root cause
  • Troubleshooting control / monitoring systems and how they can be prevented or resolved. Fine tune existing / new custom internal tools for application monitoring. Monitor controls performance and make recommendations to improve overall system performance.
  • Take part in a development team for HMI screens used with complex machinery solutions
  • Work closely with sales team on development of project budget costs, timelines, and proposed solutions.
  • Assisting the Service department in troubleshooting by remote assistance

Qualifications of the Controls Engineer:
  • BS in Engineering - Electrical, Computer Science, Mechatronics, Automation etc...
  • 4+ years of relevant experience - Exposure to process controls systems, ideally. 
  • Process integration and electromechanical/mechatronic systems experience, a plus. 
  • Exposure to a wide variety of production machinery, industrial sensors, and equipment (VFD’s, temperature/flow/pressure controllers/sensors, particulate monitors, etc).
  • Hands-on experience commissioning electrical controls & electro-mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of PLC, SCADA or DCS programs and open protocols, field bus networks, serial communication and Ethernet communication, preferred. 
  • Able to travel - 30% domestic / international travel
